Bittenbender Construction, LP is a commercial general contractor that specializes in cultural, academic, health care, corporate and retail projects. They provide construction management and general contracting services as a signatory union contractor. Bittenbender is 100% woman-owned and operated with WBENC certification and WBE certification with the City of Philadelphia, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey.
Emily Bittenbender got her start during the tenure of Mayor Ed Rendell in the ‘90s. As Capital Program Director, she completed $454 million worth of capital projects within three and a half years. Next, she worked for the National Constitution Center, leading the design and construction of the $137 million museum in Independence Mall. She started her own construction company, Bittenbender Construction, LP in 2003.
Currently, Bittenbender Construction is renovating the historic Beneficial Savings Fund Society Building at 12th and Chestnut Streets which is set to house the Thomas R. Kline Institute of Trial Advocacy of the Kline School of Law. New construction of The Raymond G. Perelman Center for Jewish Life at Drexel University is also underway; both projects are set to open in the fall of 2016.
Other notable projects include Progress Plaza, a shopping plaza on North Broad Street in Philadelphia, the new construction of Central Green Park at the Navy Yard, renovation of historic Franklin Square Park, and various projects for Comcast Corporation.
Emily Bittenbender currently serves as the Chairman of the GBCA Board of Directors. She is the first woman to hold that position.
