Training is a cornerstone to building a successful career in construction. Since 1961, GBCA has endeavored to conduct comprehensive training programs to insure a highly-skilled, productive, and motivated workforce.
Supervisory Training Program
The Associated General Contractor's of America's Supervisory Training Program (STP) is a construction-specific training curriculum developed, updated, and field-tested by and for contractors. Supervisory skill - or lack of it - directly affects every company's bottom line. You make your money in the field, and STP can help you improve your organization's bottom line.
The comprehensive 6-course program focuses on the knowledge and skills that every supervisor must have to be an effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials.
Visit our Sponsored Education Courses page to learn more about STP courses supported by GBCA.
I’d like to know more about the Supervisory Training Program
STP participants are likely to have various titles depending on the kind of work they perform, the geographical location of their projects, and the size of their company.
Individuals attending STP courses include anyone on a construction jobsite in a supervisory role - from the new supervisor and foreman to the experienced superintendent who is looking to become a more effective manager of people, time, equipment and materials.
STP is a nationally recognized training standard that has been the professional development resource of choice for more than 130,000 construction supervisors and managers. Individuals who complete the 6-course STP program through the Carpenters Apprentice School of Philadelphia & Vicinity will receive an AGC Supervisory Training Program Certificate of Completion at GBCA's Annual Meeting.
GBCA covers the cost of instruction and learning materials for STP courses taken through the Carpenters Joint Apprentice Committee which exists to provide first class quality training to members and contractors associated with the Metropolitan Regional Council.

"I would like to express my appreciation to the General Building Contractors Association for affording me the opportunity to continue with my educational pursuits through the Drexel University Construction Management Program. The GBCA’s range of education and leadership development programs are oriented toward creating a diverse learning environment that is inclusive of all construction activities. This program has been instrumental in shaping me as an individual; growing in my confidence as a Project Manager. I have had some amazing opportunities to learn from incredibly talented teachers during my time at Drexel University. The GBCA’s commitment to higher learning for the construction trade members, not only helps to lift a part of the financial burden but also provides a sense of motivational support. My gratitude goes far beyond words and I greatly appreciate your contribution towards my education.”
