As President of GBCA, Ben Connors leads the Association’s advocacy and labor relations efforts for member companies while overseeing its Safety, Educational, Marketing and Membership activities. Prior to joining GBCA as the Director of Government Relations, Ben served as the Advisor and Finance Director to Congressman Robert E. Andrews, where he managed Congressional involvement on all large commercial, industrial, institutional and transportation projects in the Congressional District.
While attending Law School, Ben worked both in the legal unit for the Philadelphia Division of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where he focused on systemic employment discrimination cases, and for the (NJ) Attorney General’s designee on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Panel on Immigration Policy.
Prior to Law School, Ben worked for the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development in the Division of Wage and Hour compliance where he assisted in targeting and tracking prevailing wage violations. In 2001, Ben served as the Labor Relations Assistant for the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation.
Ben received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University where he majored in both Political Science and Labor Studies. In 2009, he received a Juris Doctorate from Rutgers Camden School of Law, where he was elected to serve as the Student Bar Association President. Ben graduated with a focus in Labor and Employment Law. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Ben currently serves on the Board of the Penn Treaty Museum, the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Construction Industry Diversity (MACCID), and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce (GPCC).
Director, Safety Services
For over thirty years Don Ashton has held management roles in the development, institution, and maintenance of safety and loss control policies and programs for major; construction, marine construction, longshore, and marine terminal organizations. Don brings that diverse wealth of experience to the GBCA as Director of Safety Services.
Don is a member of the World Safety Organization (where he holds his Certified Safety Manager designation), the National Safety Council, National Fire Protection Association, and the Delaware Safety Council. Don also holds the Safety Trained Supervisor in Construction certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He serves on the Safety Professional Development Sub-Committee for the Associated General Contractors. Don is also an OTI certified trainer for the OSHA 10 and 30 hour Construction and General Industry Safety Courses.
Don is always available to member companies for assistance, including but not limited to, program/policy development and review, OSHA compliance and citation assistance, site audits and inspections, accident investigation, and regulatory compliance inquiries.
Director, Industry Relations
Lance brings a broad range of experience in the technical and government regulatory aspects of development to GBCA. As Director of Industry Relations, Lance serves as a resource to GBCA membership on matters of politics, labor and association relations. Lance earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University in addition to completing graduate coursework in the areas of Urban Design and Public Policy.
Prior to joining GBCA, Lance worked in various roles with the City of Harrisburg, PA in both the Executive and Legislative Branches of Government spanning two Administrations. Lance worked closely with the local development community in his role within the Bureau of Planning and with elected officials in the office of City Clerk and City Council.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Lance enjoys volunteering with local non-profits, rooting for Philadelphia sports teams and vacationing with his family.
Director, Finance & Administration
Kristin brings a wealth of knowledge to GBCA from a wide experience in various financial management roles. Her capabilities have extended across non-profit, mortgage banking, automotive industry supply, and most recently engineering design platforms. Kristin holds a Bachelor degree in Finance from Michigan State University. She is also a member of the Project Management Institute. Kristin is a Philadelphia resident and leads an active lifestyle; she enjoys walking, running, or cycling on the Schuylkill Banks Trail.
Director, Education and Professional Development
Angela brings 10+ years of event experience to help further cement GBCA’s position as industry leaders in education and professional development. With expertise in program development, promotion, and execution, Angela comes to GBCA from the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, where she orchestrated events with upwards of 700+ attendees, servicing the association’s more than 4,000 member companies.
In addition to running GBCA’s educational programs, seminars and workshops, Angela handles the tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs, and the workforce development efforts of the association.
Angela sits on the Philadelphia University, Drexel University, and Community College of Philadelphia Construction Management Advisory Committees. She is also a volunteer for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Eastern PA.
Angela earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Temple University’s Fox School of Business, and lives in South Philadelphia. She enjoys traveling abroad, Philly sports teams, and renovating her South Philly row home with her husband.
Director, Membership Development & Services
Anne comes to GBCA with over 25 years of experience in Development, Marketing, Sales, and Community Relations within the education, retail, and healthcare fields. Her expertise in fundraising and relationship building position her as the ideal candidate for the Membership Development & Services position. At GBCA, Anne works to identify potential membership and business opportunities. She also leads business development activities and maintains a cohesive membership development program. Anne holds a Bachelor of Arts, Communications degree from Rowan University. She plays an active role in her community, serving as a founding member and officer of the Hammonton Education Foundation.
Diane is a Philadelphia area native, and joined GBCA in February 2017 to provide executive support to the President. Previously she worked as the Investment Coordinator with the Annenberg Foundation, handling the administrative activities involved with managing $1.5 billion investment portfolio. She has wide-ranging experience as an Executive Assistant in the Banking, Equipment Leasing, and Insurance industries and as a result has acquired a broad base of knowledge in administrative support. She lives in Wyncote, PA with her husband and enjoys yoga, traveling, dining out, and staying active with their two rescue dogs, Gretl and Uno.
Roseann Rotz has been with GBCA for over 30 years. During this time, Roseann has supported the Labor, Safety, Education, Administration, Executive, Communication and Government Affairs. Roseann resides in Gloucester Township, New Jersey with her husband and two white German Shepherds, Gabby & Lily.
Director, Marketing and Communications
Lauren, a Philadelphia-area native, brings 15 years of marketing and public relations experience to GBCA, and a wide range of knowledge of the Philadelphia region. Her role at GBCA consists of directing all creative design; coordinating a cohesive media buy; publishing the Construction Today Magazine, GBCA Annual Report, and the Membership Directory; planning the Annual Meeting, Golf Outing, Construction Excellence Awards, and all networking events; creating and implementing sponsorships; managing all social media outlets; overseeing all website communications, including the GBCA Blog; and directing all other communications and touch points that position GBCA as the leading advocacy organization with the best trained, most skilled and most trusted construction professionals in the industry.
Lauren’s previous experience was largely based in the tourism and hospitality industries, and includes experience in digital/ interactive, public relations, social media, branding and creative direction. She earned her Master of Arts: Professional Communications, at LaSalle University and a Bachelor of Arts: Journalism, Public Relations and Advertising, at Temple University. She also completed the BMG Executive Leadership Development Program, focusing on hiring, coaching and development of staff, performance management, leadership, project management, business case development, and organizational development. Lauren is a member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
