On May 13, GBCA’s Construction Leadership Council (CLC) held its first At-Large Committee Meeting. In 2020, GBCA’s CLC formed the At-Large Committee to help organize activities and develop strategies to support young construction professionals.

Because of PA’s COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, this meeting was held virtually via Zoom. During the meeting, attendees broke into groups to brainstorm ideas for upcoming GBCA CLC activities, especially in the context of COVID-19 response. Ideas included:

  • Topics for professional development courses, and a potential curriculum for a professional development program.
  • Fundraising for existing community service partners, as well as reaching out to organizations in the counties immediately surrounding Philadelphia County.
  • Ways to conduct project and site tours safely, including possibly doing tours virtually.
  • Creating project and site tours that follow multiple stages of construction.
  • Virtual social activities that allow young construction professionals to connect informally, strengthening the building community.
  • Creating specific social opportunities that provide CLC members access to more established construction professionals.

Thanks to all who attended, and we’re excited for the CLC’s upcoming year!
