The window washers from Jenkintown Building Services, apart from their usual window washing rounds, dress up once a year to entertain patients at CHOP, which, founded in 1855, was the first hospital devoted to children.

Marty Tuzman, the owner of Jenkintown Building Services, said visiting the hospital inspires the company to keep the tradition.

“Every time we’re at CHOP,” Tuzman said. “I’m just amazed at what the kids go through, what the services put on by the staff are.”

The interaction between the children and swinging washers is “really special,” he said. The kids and the washers, he said, are real superheroes.

“It takes the kids out of the moment and takes them to a higher moment,” he said. “We love doing it.”
