University City District was established 20 years ago. Prior to that, any development came primarily from the University of Pennsylvania. Today, however, University City District is developing not just because of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Many of the developments today, including the Schuylkill Yards, center on supporting and growing local economies, including residential, commercial, and retail spaces.
