Torcon’s Holiday Toy Drive a Success!

Volunteers from Torcon and their non-profit partner, CHS 1979 & Associates, surprised 40 Camden daycare students with gifts and a visit from Santa Claus on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. Torcon has rallied the local construction community to help collect and deliver thousands of toys over the next week to Camden families in need.

Curbed Philly’s Best New Architecture and Design of 2017

Curbed Philly has compiled its list of best in Philadelphia’s new architecture. And while design and architecture is exciting, we at GBCA also know that great design can only succeed with great skilled construction teams and workers. Congratulations to all of our members who worked on these projects, from general contractors and specialty contractors, to accountants, lawyers, engineers, and product suppliers.

Of note is the first project mentioned: Curbed Philly’s Most Fun to Watch Rise.

CHAD Hard Hat Club

The Charter High School for Architecture & Design’s (CHAD) Hard Hat Club kicked off December with GBCA and The Carpenters JAC. Students were presented with an introduction to carpentry and a building activity, “the skyscraper challenge,” in which they built from marshmallows, bubble gum and spaghetti.
