The AGC Education and Research Foundation is committed to taking steps to ensure students have the technical skills needed to immediately enter into the commercial construction workforce. They offer a Workforce Development Scholarships to students enrolled in accredited technical schools or craft training programs in any discipline of commercial construction. Students in technical or approved craft training programs will have until June 1st to apply for $1,000 scholarships (renewal for up to two years) from the AGC Education and Research Foundation.

OSHA Final Rule Revises Requirements in Safety and Health Standards

As part of OSHA’s Standards Improvement Project, OSHA has issued a final rule that revises 14 provisions in the recordkeeping, general industry, maritime, and construction standards that may be confusing, outdated, or unnecessary.

The revisions are expected to increase understanding and compliance with the provisions, improve employee safety and health, and save employers an estimated $6.1 million per year.

This is the fourth rule under OSHA’s Standards Improvement Project (SIP-IV).

LF Driscoll Celebrates Safety Day

On May 17, 2019, LF Driscoll held Safety Day, the official Stand Down for May 2019, the company’s Safety Month. The event was held at Penn First, a joint venture with Balfour Beatty US for Penn Medicine, and included the project’s topping off ceremony and party.

Dona File, Corporate Safety Director for LF Driscoll, commended the workers for their safe practices: “We want to make sure that everybody, everywhere, every day, goes home safely at the end of the day.”
