Construction Fundamentals Certificate Programs
GBCA offers multiple certificate programs in partnership with Construction Experts, Inc.. These programs are designed to provide practical, real-world knowledge across key areas of construction, with flexible scheduling to support working professionals.
Certificates are currently being offered in:
- Construction Estimating
- Construction Practices
- Construction Project Management
- Construction Supervision: Emphasis in Building
Certificate In Construction Estimating
GBCA is offering a Certificate program in Construction Estimating in partnership with Construction Experts, Inc. In this program, participants will gain a fundamental understanding of cost estimation and be able to analyze construction documents, take-offs, and other direct and indirect costs in order to develop bids that are as accurate as possible. Cost estimators work with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to calculate accurate estimates of the time, materials, labor, and cost required to complete a project.
Required Courses (complete ALL of the following):
- Estimating & Bidding 1
- Estimating & Bidding 2
Elective Courses (complete at least 3 of the following):
- Introduction to Construction Estimating
- Essential Construction Math
- Construction Blueprint Reading
- Construction Materials and Processes
- Estimating Civil and Site Work Construction
- Planning and Scheduling
Courses for the Certificate are offered either anytime or four times a year. The class schedule is designed so that students can complete the certificate programs within one year. However, to provide flexibility, students have up to three years to complete all required coursework if needed.

Certificate In Construction Practices
GBCA is offering a Certificate in Construction Practices in partnership with Construction Experts, Inc. In this program, participants will gain a foundational understanding of key construction skills including blueprint reading, estimating, construction math, materials and methods, and project planning. Participants will learn how to interpret construction documents and apply practical knowledge used throughout a project.
Individuals pursuing this Certificate must complete 8 out of the following 10 classes:
- Introduction to Construction Estimating
- Essential Construction Math
- Construction Blueprint Reading
- Estimating and Bidding 1
- Estimating and Bidding 2
- Construction Materials and Processes
- Contract Documents and Construction Law
- Planning and Scheduling
- Construction Productivity and Cost Management
- Building Green Buildings: The Contractor’s Perspective

In this program, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of construction project management, including planning, scheduling, risk management, and the legal environment of construction. Students will learn to coordinate teams, manage resources, and oversee projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

- Planning and Scheduling
