On October 23, the AIA–GBCA Mock Bid Day brought together students, emerging professionals, and industry leaders for an immersive experience exploring one of the most high-pressure aspects of the construction process: bid day. Designed as a hands-on educational program, the event offered participants a realistic look at the excitement and challenge of preparing a competitive construction bid from start to finish.

Structured as an interactive simulation, teams worked under tight deadlines and shifting project conditions to assemble bids that reflected real-world scenarios. Industry professionals facilitated the exercise, guiding participants through the strategies, collaboration, and critical decision-making that drive successful proposals.

The program underscored the importance of communication and partnership between architects and contractors, highlighting how strong relationships lead to better project outcomes. Working side-by-side, participants gained valuable insight into how both disciplines approach problem-solving, cost management, and design intent.

The AIA–GBCA Mock Bid Day not only deepened participants’ understanding of the construction bidding process but also reinforced the shared goals that unite the design and building communities—collaboration, innovation, and excellence in the built environment.
