The Eastern Atlantic States Carpenters Technical Centers recently celebrated an important milestone in their accreditation journey, welcoming Dr. Kirk A. Nooks, President and CEO of the Council on Occupational Education (COE), to the Philadelphia Technical Center.
The visit follows the conditional accreditation of all 17 EAS Carpenters training centers, which serve more than 4,500 apprentices across Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
GBCA has supported this effort since 2019, when the Carpenters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee partnered with GBCA to explore ways to expand continuing education opportunities for members of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters. Since then, regional training funds have come together to form the EAS Carpenters Technical Centers and establish a single regional training fund.
