The 2018 Construction Excellence Awards are quickly approaching! We’re inspired by the excellence that our members demonstrate, and are excited to see what they submit this year! Submissions are due on September 30, 2018.

This week, we’re highlighting our 3 new categories. This year, we’re hoping to honor a Best Cultural Institution Project, a Best Green Space Project, and Excellence in Workforce Development Program! Pictured above are examples of the types of projects that could be eligible in these categories (though not eligible for this year’s awards): LF Driscoll’s Barnes Foundation (example of a Cultural Institution) and Bittenbender Construction’s Central Green at the Philadelphia Navy Yard (example of a Green Space).

Best Cultural Institution Project

The Best Cultural Institution Project Award is intended to recognize a project which demonstrates successful application of practices including, but not limited to, innovation and technology, design, efficiency and budgeting. Projects must be cultural institution developments, including but not limited to, museums, churches, or tourism attractions.

LF Driscoll’s Barnes Foundation, completed in 2012, is an excellent example of a cultural institution in Philadelphia.

Best Green Space Project

The Best Green Space Project Award is intended to recognize a project which demonstrates successful application of practices including, but not limited to, innovation and technology, design, efficiency and budgeting. Projects must consist of some form and use of green space, indoor or outdoor, including but not limited to parks, public spaces, and green living areas.

Bittenbender Construction’s Central Green at the Philadelphia Navy Yard is an excellent example of a green space. Please note that while this particular space does have a lot of grass, this is not a requirement for this award.

Excellence in Workforce Development

The Excellence in Workforce Development award is intended to recognize a member company for extraordinary, exemplary, and innovative training programs which encourage their own workforce to pursue career growth in the construction industry and/or enhance an individual’s skills. The honoree will significantly and regularly acknowledge the rising leadership within the company.
