The new school year has started, and on Tuesday, September 4, GBCA’s Director of Safety Services Frank Durso (pictured above, right) gave a guest lecture at Temple University. Frank introduced and discussed the importance of interactions between different participants in construction at all levels (General Contractors, Specialty Contractors, Unions, Owners, Regulatory Agencies, etc.) and the roles that each group plays on the job site.

Using a case study featuring the story of an accident on a job site, students worked to identify the different players involved, and the roles that each would play during the investigation and in any follow-up actions.

The Environment and Safety Aspects of Construction class in Temple’s Construction Management Technology program for the Fall 2018 semester is being taught by Frank Baxter, Safety Director for Skanska USA Building, and Hoyt Emmons, Senior Safety and Health Consultant for Med-Tex Services, Inc. (pictured above, left).
