Shelly Electric is an electrical contractor successfully serving the commercial and institutional operations of Philadelphia for over 95 years.  They are proud of their long association with customers requiring their electrical services in new construction, historical renovation, tenant fit-up, emergency services and teledata.

In 1920, Shelly Electric Company was founded by Samuel Shelly. Sam performed electrical work in the Center City Philadelphia area primarily in the commercial and entertainment fields. Sam’s interests in the electrical industry led him to securing patents in conjunction with the Thomas Edison Company for several electrical components.

In 1946, Al Shelly joined his father as the business expanded to high rise apartments, office buildings and industrial installations. Al’s accomplishments included a nationwide installation program with Crown Cork and Seal for their canning operation. In 1976, Bruce Shelly joined his father and grandfather in their continued growth of the company by focusing on institutional, hospitals, renovations and communication installations. Bruce Shelly is currently President.   He has served as a Trustee for the IBEW Local 98 Apprenticeship Training program for over 20 years, sits on the NFPA National Electrical Code-Making panel for Health Care facilities and is a board member of NECA.

Bruce’s son recently started at Shelly Electric representing the 4th generation of the company.  Adam Shelly, PE, joins the company after working for a Philadelphia based MEP engineering consulting firm for several years followed by an electrical/mechanical design-build firm based in the New York City area.
