Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions and network with Greater Philadelphia’s construction leaders, learn more about health and wellness resources for your employees, and hear from Rich Ashburn, Jr., son of the late Phillies Hall-of-Famer, Richie Ashburn.
Hard Hats with Heart is the American Heart Association’s initiative focused on the construction industry which raises awareness of heart disease and stroke among its members, thus changing their trajectory of health.
Today, 1 in 4 U.S. construction workers are considered obese and 25% use tobacco. Additionally, nearly half of this industry does not get enough exercise which is a key risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Lastly, 1 in 25 construction workers have diabetes. These numbers are staggering, especially as we continue to learn the increased risk of complications for those with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases who become infected with COVID- 19.
