The CARP 3-1-1 Program, a six-week summer initiative for Philadelphia high school students entering 11th or 12th grade, is currently underway—providing students with meaningful exposure to the union construction industry.

Supported by GBCA, Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Everybody Builds, and a network of dedicated partners, the program aims to build a stronger, more inclusive workforce by introducing young people to careers in the skilled trades.

Through a mix of jobsite shadowing with union contractors, hands-on training at the Carpenters Training Center, and math and reading prep for apprenticeship exams, students are gaining practical skills and valuable industry connections. The experience also positions them for future success in apprenticeship programs and beyond.

Training is based at Hope’s Beacon Church in West Philadelphia, with students commuting from neighborhoods across the city.

The CARP 3-1-1 Program is supported by:
Big Picture Philadelphia, Building to Teach, Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Everybody Builds, GBCA, Harbor Freight Fellows, and the Philadelphia Learning Collaborative.
