Starting a new career in carpentry at 42 years old, Purnell Johnson is taking advantage of the benefits that the Carpenters’ Apprentice Ready Program (CARP), a pre-apprenticeship program, has to offer. Using his newly learned carpentry skills, he had the opportunity to work on the Wells Fargo Center Club Level renovations.

CARP’s goal is to identify and train motivated females, minorities, and other Philadelphia County residents that have existing barriers to employment in the building trades.
