The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters is expanding its presence in Philadelphia with the purchase of a 208,000-square-foot building at the Navy Yard for $52.5 million. The new facility at 5 Crescent Drive will serve as the union’s future headquarters, replacing its Spring Garden Street location and consolidating two training centers into a more modern, accessible campus.

The four-story building—originally designed for GSK—sits within a thriving job hub of more than 16,500 workers from 150 companies. The Carpenters plan to begin moving staff into the space as early as April 2026, with about 125 employees expected on site initially.

The union also intends to build a new, state-of-the-art training facility next to the headquarters, a project estimated at more than $30 million and expected to take at least two years. The center would replace existing Philadelphia and New Castle training sites while improving access for apprentices through nearby SEPTA transit.
