CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training is hosting an important webinar, Talking About Suicide in Construction: Safe Messaging Guidelines, to help industry professionals approach conversations about suicide and mental health with care and responsibility.
Developed by the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP), the Safe Messaging Guide is designed for trainers, presenters, peer supporters, media professionals, and others who may be in a position to start these critical conversations. The guide offers practical tips for:
- Using safe messaging in media coverage, trainings, and group discussions
- Having one-on-one conversations with individuals who may be at risk
- Incorporating best practices alongside existing presentations, training modules, and evidence-based suicide intervention strategies
- Practicing post-conversation self-care to address the emotional toll these discussions can have
