Everybody Builds is excited to welcome Dorothy Smith as New Manager of Operations and Strategy.
Dorothy was born and raised in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood. She received her bachelor’s degree from University of Pittsburgh and moved to NYC soon thereafter, finally making her way back home to Philly in 2019. Dorothy has extensive experience in the non-profit sector, including workforce development, professional development, and partnership management. In New York, Dorothy worked in re-entry focused workforce development at Center for Employment Opportunities, eventually as Manager of the Job Coaching department.
Dorothy most recently served as the Manager of Training and Post-Secondary Education at Congreso de Latinos Unidos, where she designed and executed the Human Services Pathway Workforce Development Program. Dorothy kickstarted and laid the groundwork for Congreso’s soon-to-be registered apprenticeship program, an evolution of the Human Services Pathway. In addition to this major project, Dorothy served as Co-chair of Congreso’s DEI&B council, as Chair Person for Congreso’s professional development training, and developed and maintained relationships and projects with local colleges and universities such as Penn State University Abington and Peirce College.
Dorothy admits to being a self-identified workaholic, but she spends her self-care time with her large extended family, including nine nieces and nephews. Outside of family time, you can find Dorothy taking long walks with her dog and getting away to the Poconos on the weekends. Dorothy is passionate about Philadelphia, serving the community, helping others, and building up our communities and people.
