Philadelphia is poised for significant economic and construction activity as Governor Josh Shapiro announced a $195 million investment from DrinkPAK to establish its flagship East Coast manufacturing facility in the city. The project will create 174 new jobs over the next three years and serve as a major catalyst for development within the Bellwether District, the 1,300-acre transformation of the former Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery site.
DrinkPAK, one of North America’s premier canned beverage manufacturers, will lease a 1.4 million-square-foot, build-to-suit facility on 74.8 acres in Southwest Philadelphia. The facility will support full-service beverage production, packaging, warehousing, and distribution for some of the fastest-growing beverage brands in the country. As the first anchor tenant for the Bellwether District, DrinkPAK’s arrival marks a key milestone in advancing the site’s long-term redevelopment into a hub for manufacturing, innovation, and sustainable commercial activity.
Governor Shapiro emphasized that Pennsylvania competed aggressively to secure this project, highlighting the Commonwealth’s skilled workforce, strategic location, and improving business climate. The State will provide support through a $2 million Pennsylvania First grant, and the company may benefit from additional incentives due to the Bellwether District’s Keystone Opportunity Zone designation.
