EDA Contractors recently partnered with Heroic Gardens as part of its EDA Cares initiative, focusing on improving veteran well-being through hands-on horticultural programs. Heroic Gardens is a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic gardening opportunities for veterans, with projects ranging from backyard improvements to the restoration of public green spaces.

In 2024, more than 20 EDA employees volunteered nearly 200 hours in support of the organization’s mission. Heroic Gardens was also selected as the title recipient of the 2024 EDA Cares Charity Golf Outing, receiving over $23,000 in funding.

The funds will help support upcoming programs, including on-site gardening classes for veterans and caregivers, as well as the launch of a workforce development initiative tied to a new U-Pick Sunflower Field, scheduled to open in Northeast Philadelphia in July 2025.

Established in 2020, EDA Cares is the company’s employee-led community outreach committee, designed to support causes that align with employee interests and community needs. The collaboration with Heroic Gardens reflects EDA’s continued commitment to meaningful, local impact.
