Everybody Builds is a coalition of developers, trade associations, and labor and trade groups working to improve the diversity of workers in Philadelphia’s construction industry. GBCA is a proud partner of Everybody Builds, and we look forward to help create and support sustainable change that works with and strengthens Philadelphia’s commercial construction industry.

From the Philadelphia Business Journal:

Andreina Perez Hein, a veteran of the construction industry, has been tabbed by the various institutions involved to lead the coalition. …

Everybody Builds will start with labor initiatives aimed at adding people from underrepresented communities to the city’s construction workforce. Ultimately, the group hopes it can have a transformational impact on the industry as a whole. …

Perez Hein said that first on her agenda is to design an operational model and develop programing for the coalition. She is also looking to add to the Everybody Builds membership base with more local institutions with a stake in real estate. … The goal is “changing what the industry looks like, what the landscape looks like,” Perez Hein said, adding that “this is a long-term commitment. It’s not a single-project commitment.” …

The first-generation Latina immigrant said that the Everybody Builds mission is personal and falls in line with her passion for advocating for underrepresented communities. Perez Hein comes to the role after serving as chief development and stakeholder relations officer for Congreso de Latinos Unidos, a human services agency in the city. Before that, the University of Miami and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill alum spent 14 years in the construction industry, largely as a product manager.
