GBCA member Gilbane Building Company, headed by Vice President Shawn Carlin, was named the #3 healthiest large-sized company in the 2021 Healthiest Employers Awards!

When it launched its wellness program over a decade ago, it was what the company deemed a “check the box” program. Evolving and expanding the program ever since, Gilbane works for overall employee health – from physical and mental to social and financial. Wanting a more seamless process, the company partnered with StayWell, which helped grow employee engagement.
Through the platform, there are new activities each month, plus coaching, which extends to employees’ covered spouses and partners. Of its enrolled employees, 70% met the requirements to receive the company’s annual medical discount, which gives employees up to 40% off their medical premiums. Previously focused on biometric screenings and attesting to being nicotine-free, the company has since taken a more holistic approach at the behest of its employees and even expanded its expectant parent leave.
