Guthrie Glass and Metal welcomes owner Lynn Guthrie’s oldest son, Ted Baumgardner, back from his overseas tour with the U.S. Marine Corps. After eight years in the military, he is now learning the glazing business from the ground up as an Associate Estimator. “I’ve always looked up to my Mom’s competitiveness, integrity, and well-earned reputation for reliability,” says Ted. “It’s a privilege to now learn from her firsthand.”

Ted joins Lynn’s other sons, Andrew, James, and Christian, who are already involved in transitioning the business to the next generation. “It’s nice to finally have us all working together,” says James, a CPA and the firm’s CFO. Christian, the youngest of the four and the company’s Lead Estimator, has enjoyed having his older brother as a direct report. “Being able to on-board Ted right after completing a big project like the Live! Casino and Hotel Philadelphia has been really professionally satisfying,” said Christian.

Meanwhile, Andrew has been leading the company’s expansion efforts into the flooring, tile, and marble sector. “We’ve all seen the dedication Lynn has put into Guthrie Glass and the pride she takes in the relationships she’s built with owners, architects and contractors,” says Andrew. “Now it is our turn to live up to that high expectation, and we are definitely looking forward towards contributing to the wider construction industry.”

Excited to finally have all of her sons in the same state, Lynn is most proud of what this means for the future of the company she founded in 1986. “After being in business for 35 years, I’ve had the privilege to work with so many talented and loyal employees. It’s fulfilling to know that Guthrie Glass will continue to offer that tight-knit professional environment for the next 35.”
