There is a growing need in the construction industry to supply the pipeline with new talent — in the trades, site supervision, project management, estimating, support roles, etc. As the senior workforce retires, it becomes more difficult to mentor the younger generations and fill the roles with experienced individuals. INTECH Construction LLC’s approach is to invest in young talent, expose them to construction and career possibilities, and lessen the widening gap of experienced roles.

INTECH’s team engages with an average of 50 students at each career fair, but its goal isn’t to drive big numbers, but to educate all students about career potential and search for the right mutual fit. INTECH has established partnerships with universities, colleges, and trade schools that help pair the right student with the right experience and positions. INTECH’s relationships with these institutions allow access to speak to students in intimate classroom settings, making the career fairs more meaningful for students.

In addition to student outreach, INTECH has established several in-house programs to invest in the youth with its co-op and intern programs that expose students to various facets of construction while they attend school. Some of the co-op and intern students enter INTECH’s Loop program — a more intensive three-segment structure that affords on-the-job experience in field supervision, pre-construction, and project management. Participants work with mentors and go on to establish themselves as seasoned construction professionals.
