CMGT 606 Construction Risk Management

Catalog Description

This course examines the key concepts, models, codes, tools and techniques used in managing risks within the architecture, construction and engineering industries. The course will focus on planning for the effective implementation of the risk management process, identification and qualitative and quantitative assessment of risks, appropriate strategies to respond to risks, and how to sustain the risk management process throughout the life of a construction project.

Course Learning Objectives

Students successfully completing this course will be able to:

  • Defend the ethical, legal, and fiduciary justification for diligent safety and risk management.
  • Formulate quantitative approaches to management decisions involving risk and safety.
  • Evaluate jobsite conditions, procedures, and operations and propose appropriate risk litigation procedures.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the risk management obligations of various project stakeholders.
