On March 10, 2022, The McDonald Dale Strategic Alliance (MDSA), a partnership between McDonald Building Company, a GBCA member, and Dale Corporation (parent company of GBCA member Dale Construction, LLC), celebrated the topping off of its project at 3.0 University Place.

McDonald Dale Strategic Alliance (MDSA) proudly attended the Steel Topping Out Ceremony at 3.0 University Place at 41st & Market last Thursday as the last steel beam soared to great heights for final placement. 2,164 tons of steel was erected to frame out this groundbreaking & innovative life sciences building. This project milestone is an incredible sight to see and a notable accomplishment for our Ironworkers Local Union 401 as well as the entire construction team. 3.0 University Place is the FIRST pre-certified LEED v4 Platinum® and WELL v2 Platinum® project in Philadelphia, stay tuned for updates on its state-of-the-art sustainable features. Public officials of University City joined in to celebrate the $100 million project’s milestone.

When state Sen. Vincent J. Hughes took the podium at a ceremonial topping out of 3.0 University Place, a $100 million development at 4101 Market St. in University City, he noted the significance of its location.
“This is special,” he said. “The history has always been that everything stopped at 40th Street. We have been able to break through that.”
When Hughes referred to “everything,” he cited development, investment and innovation.
