The Mentoring Young Women in Construction (MyWIC) Camp kicked off by teaching the young women about construction safety. At Med-Tex Services, Inc., camp attendees learned about fall protection and fire safety.
The camp attendees later visited 3.0 University Place, being built by MDSA, a joint venture between McDonald Building Company and Dale Corporation. In addition to meeting women working on the jobsite, they toured the project and learned about factors in construction project planning, including environmental responsibility.
This is the 13th year of MyWIC camp, which originally began as a spring break camp offered by NAWIC Philadelphia Chapter 145 in 2009. The camp introduces girls to role models and women in the industry, including tradeswomen, engineers, architects, project managers, superintendents, lawyers, business owners, and administrative support.
