On August 13, 2021, the City of Philadelphia mandated that workers in healthcare and higher education be vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 15. Since then, the City has shared with GBCA the following clarification for construction workers:
The college/university vaccine mandate applies to construction workers at universities and colleges UNLESS the construction workers have no interaction with students, staff, faculty, or volunteers.
The [Department of Public Health] is urging everyone aged 12 and up to become fully vaccinated as soon as possible, even if they are not required to do so by the City. Keep in mind also that your employer or business/organization that has contracted with your employer can require that you be vaccinated even if the City does not.
[Remember] that even vaccinated individuals must wear masks indoors in Philadelphia at this time.
Please note that the Department of Public Health is responsible for making the final determination, so this clarification is subject to change.
