On November 13, the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia hosted a tour of the Linode Headquarters at 3rd and Arch Streets. The building, which was previously a bank, a seamen’s “home,” an MTV Real World location, and an art gallery and event space, is now the home of Linode, a fast-growing cloud hosting service. This Old City historic restoration project was built by C. Erickson and Sons, Inc.

Linode founder and owner Chris Aker gave the tour, highlighting how as an owner, he wanted to preserve the building’s historic character-defining features (such as rich woodwork and scagliola floor tiles) while creating a modern office space with a largely millennial workforce. Mark Cochard, Senior Estimator of C. Erickson and Sons, was also present, providing additional details about project.

Other GBCA members that worked on the project include the following:

  • Belcher Roofing Corp.
  • Central Metals, Inc.
  • Cippco, Inc.
  • George Young Mammoet
  • Kieffer’s Appliances
  • Mega Construction
  • Revolution Recovery
  • Roman Mosaic & Tile Company
