The 2019 SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500® Pennsylvania Regional Series has a new home at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia. Teams of brick masons and tenders will compete to see who can build the biggest wall with the least amount of errors in one hour. The winner heads to Las Vegas to compete in the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500 World Championship in February 2020 at the World of Concrete. This is one of 24 regional qualifiers being held across North America. The regional champions will have a chance to battle for over $125,000 in cash and prizes, including a Ford F250 XLT 4X4 truck and John Deere Gator XUV.

The Jr. SPEC Mix Bricklayer 500

For the first time in the history of the SPEC MIX BRICKLAYER 500, high school and post-secondary students will be allowed to compete in their own competition designed specifically for their skill level. Those chosen to compete in the Jr. Competition will be given 20 minutes to build an abbreviated version of the wall being constructed during the day’s journeymen bricklaying battle. Students from Williamson Trade School and Thaddeus Stevens College will have a chance to compete in Pennsylvania this year.

The Jr. Bricklaying event is part of a greater workforce development initiative, Masonry Education Day, which allows students a chance to meet local contractors and vendors to learn more about jobs and products in their area. Along with the student competitors, additional masonry students will be in attendance to cheer on their peers while participating in the education program.
