Torrado Construction has completed the new Vare Recreation Center in the Grays Ferry neighborhood of South Philadelphia, bringing a vibrant and modern community space to the heart of the area. Built from the ground up through Philadelphia’s Rebuild Project, the facility replaces the former recreation center with a state-of-the-art building designed to serve residents for years to come.

The new center features a striking, multi-colored façade that creates a bright, welcoming presence in the neighborhood. Enhanced lighting, new sidewalks, ADA-accessible ramps, and updated landscaping further support a warm and inclusive environment for visitors of all ages.

Outside, the site includes reimagined recreation spaces—outdoor courts, playgrounds, open plazas, and gathering areas—designed to foster connection and activity. Every element reflects thoughtful design and craftsmanship, reinforcing the importance of strong public spaces in community life.

For Torrado Construction, the project represents a continued commitment to investing in neighborhoods and strengthening the places where people come together—truly “building communities block by block.”
