March 7-13, 2021 is Women in Construction Week. We are recognizing some of the women who own and operate construction businesses in the Philadelphia region’s construction industry. These women and their companies are changing the Philadelphia region, both its physical and cultural landscapes.

This week, we’re spotlighting Cheryl DePiano, Owner of CDP Construction, LLC.

How and why did you pursue a career in construction?

I began my career in construction in 2000, and in 2005, I formed my own construction company and became a certified woman owned business. The construction industry was beginning to open the doors for women business owners in construction that self-performed.

What do you love about running your construction business?

I love running my construction company because we have a hand in restoring historic buildings in the Philadelphia area. We collaborate with general contractors and owners to bring the original beauty back to old buildings so they can continue to shine for years to come.

What is one of your favorite past or current projects, and why?

One of my favorite projects that I had the privilege of working on was the restoration of Independence Hall Tower. It is such a significant part of this country’s history. It left such an impression on me to know that CDP Construction, LLC took part in its restoration.
