Founded in 1988, Bencardino Excavating, Inc. has 30 years of experience providing excavating and site work contracting. Still a family-run business, Bencardino Excavating consists of a team of 85 professionals and skilled crafts people who are dedicated to performance and productivity. They provide site work excavation, storm and sanitary excavation, demolition and land clearing, grading, on site crushing, concrete and asphalt paving and work with mechanical and electrical contractors to do mechanical pipe trench, electrical duct banks, and laying piping and electrical line. They service the Philadelphia area and five-county area along with the western New Jersey suburbs.

Bencardino Excavation values the well-being of its employees, so they take safety seriously. All employees participate in OSHA safety training and confined space training. In addition, they distribute safety briefs to workers and conduct weekly “toolbox talks” on safety for each job. On site, their personnel is always equipped with the proper gear and uses all the appropriate trenching and shoring techniques.

Louis A. Bencardino started his career right after high school, raking concrete, digging footings and grading and stoning slabs for a neighbor’s concrete business. Armed with his newfound abilities, he set out to buy his own backhoe and start an excavating business. He had his first backhoe delivered to his Mother’s house, because he had nowhere to put it. The business grew, in 1995, he built a large shop building; and in 1999 built an adjacent office building.

President, Lou Bencardino’s thoughts on his company’s success are:

  • Family- “My Mother handles all the accounting and finances. When it comes to trust, there is no question.”
  • Hard Work – “Being willing to do whatever it takes, whenever. We don’t say no to anyone.”
  • Luck – “I’ve had a lot of it, but I think luck also comes from working hard.”
  • Bencardino Excavating, Inc. uses the most high-tech, late-model equipment, combined with talented staff, who see each job all the way through, ensuring projects are done efficiently and on-schedule.
