In construction, fatigue can be a potentially deadly problem for workers, in the office and especially on the job site. For the National Safety Council, symptoms of fatigue are “feelings of tiredness, sleepiness, reduced energy, and increased effort needed to perform tasks at a desired level.”

The National Safety Council has published 3 reports on fatigue in the workplace, noting the risks for employees, employers, and finally providing recommendations on how to reduce risk from workplace fatigue.

For employers, thinking about workplace fatigue is important because fatigued employees can be less productive, and at worst, become possible safety hazards.
