Under the Philadelphia City Ordinances for Construction certain supervisory and safety personnel are required to have OSHA 30-hour safety training in construction, or its equivalent, every five (5) years.

The Department of Licensing and Inspections has approved the Board of Certified Safety Professionals’ (BCSP) STS-C certification as the equivalent to the OSHA 30-hour training course. One of the major benefits to the STS-C is the employee’s ability to test ONCE and to automatically renew on an annual basis (after paying the renewal fee.)

Additionally, the BCSP formally renews the certification every five years requiring the certified individual to show proof that they have completed thirty (30) hours of safety training over the five-year period. Such training may consist of formalized training, safety meetings, tool box talks, etc.

As OSHA does not offer a refresher course for the OSHA 30, in order for an individual to renew their OSHA 30 certification card, they would be required to retake the entire OSHA 30 training course.

The GBCA, as a chapter of the Associated General Contractors,(AGC) offers the AGC’s 10% discount to its members for online training through ClickSafety. ClickSafety is one of the most well-known and respected online safety training providers.

The GBCA price for the STS-C prep course is $134.00. Follow the link below for more information on this and over 300 available ClickSafety courses.
