On Tuesday, October 29, 2019, the Carpenters’ Company and GBCA hosted A Night Out at the Theater with Bittenbender Construction. Attendees came for a pre-show cocktail reception, watched the Philadelphia Theatre Company‘s production of A Small Fire, and then stayed after the show for a post-show talk-back with Emily Bittenbender and Angela McCaffery.
Emily and Angela spoke about the joys and challenges of owning and running a construction company, particularly as women, in Philadelphia. They noted how they’ve paid close attention to work-life balance, how even though as entrepreneurs they must work long hours, they find ways to spend time with loved ones. Reflecting on the show, they also pointed out that like the characters in the play, their work colleagues and employees are often extended members of their families.
Bittenbender Construction is sponsoring this fall’s production of A Small Fire at Philadelphia Theatre Company. Emmy- and Tony Award-winning actress Bebe Neuwirth (Cheers, Frasier, Chicago) plays the head of a woman-led construction company who faces a personal crisis. The show is running until November 10, 2019.
