On February 26, GBCA’s Construction Leadership Council (CLC) hosted a panel discussion for Drexel University’s Estimating class, taught by Dr. Xi Wang. The panel featured four CLC members:

  • Steven Gobac, Skanska USA Building Inc.
  • Nick Pirri, Hispanic Ventures, Inc.
  • Andrew Shinn, Rycon Construction

Panelists shared candid insights into how they began their careers and what their day-to-day responsibilities in estimating entail. They discussed landing their first roles, navigating complex bids, collaborating across teams, and leveraging industry software—providing students with a practical and realistic view of the skills, strategy, and teamwork required to succeed in construction estimating.
