The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has established a new national alliance with four safety organizations to strengthen efforts to prevent serious workplace injuries and fatalities, including those occurring in the construction industry.

Announced in OSHA’s QuickTakes newsletter, the alliance brings together the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), National Safety Council (NSC), and the University of Colorado Boulder’s Construction Safety Research Alliance (CSRA).

The partnership will focus on improving how employers and workers identify and address hazards that could result in life-altering injuries or fatalities.

Through the alliance, the organizations will collaborate on safety education, research-based guidance, training resources, and outreach efforts designed to help employers recognize high-risk situations and strengthen prevention practices.

The Construction Safety Research Alliance brings construction-specific research and expertise to the initiative, supporting efforts to better understand the conditions that contribute to serious incidents on jobsites.

For contractors, the alliance represents an additional resource for improving safety planning, identifying high-risk activities, and strengthening existing safety programs. Its emphasis on preventing serious injuries and fatalities aligns with the construction industry’s continued focus on proactive hazard recognition and prevention.

The alliance agreement was signed on September 29, 2026, and will remain in effect for two years. OSHA and its partners will work together to develop and share resources that employers, workers, and industry organizations can use to improve workplace safety.
