On September 14, 2017, members of the GBCA’s Construction Leadership Council toured the Gallery redevelopment project, Fashion District Philadelphia. In spring of 2016, Shoemaker Construction Co. and Skanska USA Building began the dramatic remake of 1.4 million square feet of prime retail and commercial space known in Center City Philadelphia as The Gallery. The joint venture of Skanska USA Building and Shoemaker Construction Company will complete renovations of The Gallery shopping mall in Center City Philadelphia to transform it into Fashion District Philadelphia. Spanning 3 city blocks, Fashion District Philadelphia will be the largest cohesive retail project in downtown Philadelphia. Conveniently connected to Reading Terminal Market, the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the largest regional rail hub in Philadelphia, Fashion District Philadelphia will offer 730,000 SF of the best designer outlet brands and artisanal dining experiences. Fashion District Philadelphia is a joint venture partnership with Macerich and PREIT. Following the tour, the group headed to The Field House for a networking Happy Hour.
