On May 23, GBCA hosted middle school students from Edwin M. Stanton School as part of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia’s Future Ready Program. The program works in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia and engages with Philadelphia’s middle school students about potential career paths and the future opportunities that they reveal.

Students learned about issues in construction such as Building Information Modeling, Virtual Design and Construction, Construction Safety, and Park Renovations. Activities mimicked construction activities, such as practicing clear communication to build a LEGO structure, designing a park that meets community requirements, trying on safety harnesses, and building toothpick structures that can withstand a simulated earthquake.

Thanks to the students and staff of Edwin M. Stanton School for coming and learning about the building construction industry!

Many thanks to our presenters:
