The General Building Contractors Association and the ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia are bringing together professionals from Clemens Construction Company, the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, and the ACE volunteer network of students and mentors together for a Martin Luther King Day of service project designed to enhance the public exterior spaces of the of the Houseman Playground Recreation Center. This Center is located in the 9th District of Philadelphia, represented by Councilwoman Cherelle Parker. Woodland Building Supply is supplying the materials.

PROPOSED PROJECT
Together, students, professionals and community members will build picnic tables and benches. The new seating areas will be incorporated into the main entrance and pool areas, and will allow for more community interaction and supervision of children while at play.
The Houseman Recreation Center will be available for assembly and construction of the tables and benches – as well as for use of restrooms and serving of refreshments.
