Congratulations to the graduating class of the Eastern State Penitentiary Preservation Trades Center’s Masonry Academy! Hosted by Eastern State Penitentiary and Rebuild Philadelphia, this 4-week, paid pre-apprentice program was taught by Dan Organ of Pullman SST. Participants also give daily public tours about preservation work to Penitentiary visitors.
On Friday, May 26, 2023, GBCA’s Marketing & Communications department visited the program to talk about careers in union construction. Participants were working on different repointing styles as part of a study evaluating how ESP should preserve the walls in the site.
