On October 15, members of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) went behind the scenes of the William H. Gray III 30th Street Station for a Hard Hat Tour led by Gilbane Building Company, the project’s lead general contractor.
The program began with an overview presentation from Gilbane’s project team, who shared insights on the scope, progress, and unique challenges of the redevelopment before guiding attendees through the active construction site. The group toured key areas including the Main Concourse, South Concourse, Central and West Arcades, and office spaces currently under renovation.
As one of the busiest intercity rail hubs in the nation, 30th Street Station is undergoing a $400 million transformation aimed at enhancing the commuter experience, improving accessibility, and preserving the landmark’s historic character. Attendees gained valuable insight into the project’s phasing strategy, which allows the station to remain fully operational, as well as upgrades to infrastructure systems, finishes, retail areas, safety features, and sustainability measures.
Following the tour, CLC members gathered for a networking happy hour at The Post, continuing the discussion and connecting with industry peers.
