AIA Philadelphia Executive Director Rebecca Johnson is seeking financial support to help keep the Center for Architecture and Design open.

From Rebecca Johnson and AIA Philadelphia:

Dear Friends,

Over the past month, all of us have been adapting to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our lives, our work, and our homes. We have talked with hundreds of you and will continue to hear your stories and share ours because although it’s perhaps cliché at this point…it is true. We will only get through this together.

We certainly miss seeing all of your faces at the Center for Architecture and Design – over the past 12 years, 1218 Arch Street has become this tremendous gathering place and in the process has created a culture that supports the larger design community. As many of you know, the Center relies heavily on private rentals to keep the lights on and keep the Center open and accessible to everyone. With the ban on gathering and social distancing requirements, that rental income has completely evaporated this year.

Members of the Board of Directors of The Center for Architecture and the Philadelphia Chapter of the AIA have committed to match, up to $10,000, the donations you make on or before #GivingTuesdayNow, May 5th.

To say that this is a challenging time for everyone is an understatement, but we want to ensure that the Center will be fully functional and open to the public as soon as we can reopen. Please help CFAD reach our $10,000 goal by donating a little…or a lot….at the end of the day we just hope that if you are able to, you’ll give. Any donation is greatly appreciated and helpful. So please, before Tuesday, May 5th, #GivingTuesdayNow, click here to visit CFAD’s website to make your donation.

Thank you for your consideration. Stay safe and healthy.
