On October 1, 2020, GBCA’s Construction Leadership Council hosted its first virtual Coffee Chat, featuring Eric Lintner, CEO of Dale Construction. This informal meeting provided GBCA’s young construction professionals an opportunity to hear from an experienced construction executive, and to ask frank questions about working in Philadelphia’s commercial construction industry.

Eric discussed the importance of building up and being a part of a strong team. A few key lessons stuck out:

  • As much as he wanted to, he couldn’t do it all himself: To be a part of and build a strong team, individuals—including himself—must be trusted to do what they do best.
  • Young professionals should take advantage of their youthful inquisitiveness, have courage, and ask questions.
  • Honesty, integrity, and vulnerability are key to survival in the construction industry.

I can’t stress enough to be who you are. You already have the tools that you need to survive.

Eric Lintner, CEO, Dale Construction

Thanks to Eric for sharing his thoughts and advice with us, and thanks to all who attended!
