GBCA partnered with INTECH Construction to host heat safety stand downs at two project sites, reinforcing the importance of protecting workers from heat-related hazards during the summer months.
On July 28, GBCA visited the Pennovation Works project in Philadelphia for the first stand down, followed by a second event at Rutgers University’s Camden campus on July 30.
At each site, Jim McGugan led a heat safety presentation focused on recognizing and preventing heat-related illnesses. Workers learned how to identify the signs and symptoms of heat stress, respond to potential heat-related illnesses, and take practical steps to protect themselves and their coworkers while working in high temperatures.
To support workers on the job, GBCA also distributed cooling towels and T-shirts at each site.
