GBCA’s efforts to build up Philadelphia’s workforce were recently spotlighted in the Philadelphia Business Journal. The article, written by Lauren Hanan, GBCA’s Director of Marketing and Communications, looks at how GBCA works to do more than simply promote careers in construction. Instead, GBCA collaborates with industry programs, contractors, and owners/developers that work to simultaneously prepare individuals for careers in construction as well as reduce barriers to access:

  • ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia
  • Mercy Career & Technical High School’s building trades CTE program
  • YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School’s Building trades track
  • Construction Apprentice Preparatory Program
  • Carpenters’ Apprentice Ready Program

Workforce development has always been an important element in building and supporting a thriving industry, and as the shortage of workers grows, we recognize it’s now more critical than ever. At GBCA, we’re dedicated to building a strong local pipeline of talent. Our future as an industry depends on it.

GBCA is addressing workforce development with a holistic, head-on approach. From partnerships with local schools and youth groups, to hands-on training, classroom training, work-ready skills training and boots on the ground recruitment — we have created programs that set candidates up for a successful career for life.
