Respected Community Leader Sebrina Tate Joins Everybody Builds as its new Executive Director
Veteran nonprofit executive to lead effort connecting Philadelphia residents to employment and business opportunities in the construction industry
On August 10, the Board of Directors of Everybody Builds announced the appointment of Sebrina Tate as its new Executive Director.
Tate brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning workforce development, housing, education, behavioral health, social services, and community-based economic empowerment. As Executive Director, Tate will lead Everybody Builds’ efforts to ensure that all Philadelphians have access to union apprenticeship and small business opportunities in the construction industry.
She joins Everybody Builds from BEBASHI, where she served as President & CEO. Under her leadership, BEBASHI experienced remarkable growth, expanded its reach, relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility, and built partnerships that strengthened neighborhoods across Philadelphia.
Tate’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the Greater Philadelphia region. Historic investments in infrastructure, commercial development, and major civic projects are boosting demand for a skilled workforce.
Founded in 2022 to increase access to career and business opportunities in Philadelphia’s construction industry, Everybody Builds brings together labor, contractors, developers, industry associations, and philanthropy around a common goal: ensuring that Philadelphia’s growing construction industry creates meaningful opportunities for all Philadelphians.
Tate joins Everybody Builds with the support of a coalition of founding partners whose investments and vision helped establish the organization as a regional leader in workforce development and economic opportunity.
Anchored by JPMorganChase and the Philadelphia 76ers, alongside Campus Apartments, Darco Capital, the General Building Contractors Association (GBCA), the Bellwether District, the Lenfest Foundation, and the William Penn Foundation, these founding partners share a commitment to ensuring that Philadelphia’s growth benefits residents across all neighborhoods and backgrounds.
“The strength of Everybody Builds has always been its ability to unite labor, industry, and philanthropy to share common goals,” Tate said. “The commitment of our founding partners has created a powerful foundation for impact, and I look forward to building on that momentum.”
The appointment has drawn enthusiastic support from board members representing labor, construction, and civic leadership throughout the region.
